MTX Launches Redesigned Thunder Amplifier Line: Premium Power at Mid-Level Prices

MTX has revealed its all-new line of Thunder amplifiers, the first redesign in eight years. This updated series consists of seven Class D models, including monoblock, four-channel, five-channel, and six-channel configurations, priced between $349.95 and $699.95. The amplifiers offer power ratings ranging from 250 to 1,000 watts RMS at 4 ohms, certified according to the Consumer Technology Association’s CTA-2006D standard. MTX emphasizes that unlike many competitors, all Thunder amplifiers are conservatively rated, offering plenty of extra power for users.

The redesigned Thunder amps feature high-quality components, including Tiffany-style RCAs, upgraded preamp stages, and 24db crossovers to ensure superior sound quality. With 1Ω stability, external bass control remote, and multiple protection features, the Thunder amplifiers are engineered to deliver excellent performance and long-lasting durability.

Key Features:

  • 1Ω Stability (Monoblocks and 5-channel sub)
  • Variable Subsonic & Bass Boost (Monoblocks and 5-channel sub)
  • 24db Linkwitz Variable Crossovers
  • Concealed Top-mount Controls
  • Auto Turn-on via DC Offset
  • External Bass Control Remote
  • Power & Protection LED Status Indicator
  • Thermal, Short, and Over/Under Voltage Protection
  • High-Quality Tiffany-Style RCA Input
  • 10V High-Level Audio Input Compatibility
  • Clip Detection Light for Tuning Optimization
  • Surface Mount Component Technology
  • Direct Insert Power and Speaker Terminals

Each Thunder amplifier includes a “birth certificate,” displaying the power ratings of that specific unit, which often exceeds the listed specs by up to 25%. This makes the Thunder amplifiers an excellent choice for those seeking premium performance at a competitive price.
